- How long does it actually take to cook something?
- The programme time starts once the pot is at pressure, and getting there takes roughly ten to fifteen minutes depending on how full and how cold the contents are. So a recipe listing twenty minutes is closer to thirty-five door to door. That is still a fraction of the same dish braised in an oven, but it is worth knowing before you plan around it — several owners mention it as the one thing the timings do not tell you.
- Is it safe? I have heard stories about pressure cookers.
- Those stories are about hob-top cookers with a manual weight. This is a sealed electric appliance with over ten built-in safety mechanisms: the lid locks while there is any pressure inside and physically cannot be opened until it has gone, there is overheat protection on the element, and the seal is designed to release before anything else can. You do not manage the pressure at any point — the cooker does.
- How many people does 5.68 litres feed?
- Up to six servings. In practice that is a family dinner with leftovers for a lunchbox, or a batch-cooking session that fills several freezer containers. If you regularly cook for eight or more you would want to do two runs, and if you only ever cook for one this is more pot than you need.
- What is the inner pot made of, and can it go in the dishwasher?
- 18/8 stainless steel with a tri-ply base. That means it browns properly on the sauté setting rather than just heating, and there is no coating on it that can scratch or wear through over time. Both the inner pot and the lid are dishwasher safe. The steamer rack supplied in the box is stainless steel too.
- Can I use it as a plain slow cooker?
- Yes — slow cooking is one of the seven functions, with its own button and its own Less, Normal and More settings. It is the same pot and the same lid, run unsealed and gently for hours instead of sealed and hot for minutes. That is the reason a lot of owners end up giving their separate slow cooker away.
- What is included and what is the warranty?
- The cooker with its 18/8 stainless steel inner pot and lid, and a stainless steel steamer rack for keeping food clear of the liquid. It carries a 1 year manufacturer warranty. If anything is wrong when it arrives, contact us and we will sort it out.
